Oct 2016 Meal & Speaker - Prof Peter Wadhams - Looking for Arctic Ice

Mon, Oct 10th 2016 at 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Our Speaker today is our own Peter Wadhams who is an expert in Polar Ice. Speaker Host - Jan Cooper, General Host - Tim Law, Cashier - John Williams.

Meal followed by our very own Rtn Prof Peter Wadhams speaking on his specialised subject - 'Looking for Arctic Ice'.

Peter has been working on Polar Ice and the effects of climate change for many years.  He is often to be found on board an ice-breaker heading into freezing and heaving seas.  His talk today will be about his personal experiences and how he sees the future shaping up.  Interestingly the results of Climate Change in the northern and southern hemispheres has been very different.

His recent book lays out the case very clearly about the reality of Climate Change and what we risk if action is not taken very soon - 'A Farewell to Ice'.
