Newmarket Open Door is a charity providing homeless and vulnerable young people with supported housing and training opportunities in Newmarket. As well as their houses, they run two Charity Superstores and Training Centres in Newmarket and Mildenhall to fundraise and the local Foodbank to support the wider community.
Open Door was inspired and founded by a local Churches Together initiative in 1997 and now manages and provides:
Portland and Hypher Houses – supported housing for young single homeless or vulnerable people aged 16-24.
Open Door runs Charity Superstores and Training Centres in Newmarket and Mildenhall, retailing donated furniture and household goods to the general public, providing volunteering opportunities for our residents and disadvantaged people from the wider community.
The Foodbank@newmarketopendoor redistributes food and household products to those in need, other charities and their members and a discounted meal voucher scheme for homeless people in emergency need.
