Handover at a distance! - 25 June

First we Zoomed in a new member (see below), then we Zoomed in our new President at our online meeting on 25 June. Here we see Andy Miller handing over, al fresco and at a distance, to Dougie Pipe who takes over as Club President for Rotary year 2020/21.

Online induction of new member Jed Pace - 14 May

Guess we must be one of the first clubs to have run a socially distanced induction! We had a good turnout to welcome Jed to the Rotary Club of Felixstowe. Jed, from the world of international road ferry operations, was sponsored by Rotarian Graham Boast. Our President Andy Miller officially welcomed Jed to the club but had to delegate the presentation of his Rotary lapel pin. Fortunately, Jed's wife Ruth was there to do the honours. Getting into Zoom 

With the advent of lockdown and our last lunchtime meeting on 5 March, we have had to conduct our business at a distance with telephone, emails, and video conferencing. (Community support and, after the cancellation of Fun Run and Boxing night, making the best of the limited fundraising opportunities are key issues.) And like so many clubs and organizations, we have been getting into Zoom. Council and committee meetings work well and we have now started to use the system to run club meetings online. A poor second at best, but at least we can maintain the spirit of the club in these exceptional times.
