Felixstowe's 45th Annual Fun Run raises over £7600!

The event raised £7,642, which will be donated to a number of local worthy causes, the main beneficiary being Brave Futures, a specialist charity which supports children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.

This year the Rotary Club of Felixstowe’s 45 th Annual Charity Fun Run took place on Monday 4th May and as usual was centred on the Spa Pavilion. More than 700 runners participated in the event, which involved completing as many laps as possible of a one-mile circuit. This year the weather was much kinder to us. The event raised £7,642, which will be donated to a number of local worthy causes, the main beneficiary being Brave Futures, a specialist charity which supports children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.

Particular thanks to Maritime Cargo Processing plc for being our main sponsor for the third year running. Many thanks to all our other sponsors, advertisers, helpers and volunteers; including the Spa Pavilion for the use of their facilities, the Flyer Group Media for designing and hosting the programme in the Felixstowe Flyer, the Lions Club of Felixstowe for providing equipment and a helping hand, Brinor Warehousing and Distribution for supplying the trailer stage, Adderstone Civils for the loan of barriers, cones and road signs, Carl Day for the race commentary, and the SeaYou Café and Restaurant for the recyclable water cups. Also, thanks to the wives and friends of club members for taking over the lower water station, previously run by the Inner Wheel Club of Felixstowe.

The Fancy Dress Competition was sponsored by Ruby’s community café and the cash prizes presented by the Mayor of Felixstowe, Corrine Franklin, who was accompanied by Deputy Mayor, Darren Aitchison. First prize was awarded to the Inflatable Dinosaur, second to Shrek and Dog, third to Duckman and fourth to Flower Power. Four additional consolation prizes were awarded to other entrants.
