Supporting the Young Carers of Wigan and Leigh
The Rotary Club of Wigan has been supporting the young carers in the Borough for many years by giving around 20 children a fun day out during the summer holidays. The Club decided that during this difficult and scary time we needed to try and offer some more support for this group of brave young children during lock-down. Thanks to matched funding from Wigan Council Brighter Borough the team from WLYC have been able to supply each young carer with a wellbeing bag full of exciting activities. The Rotary Club recognises the importance of young people who are at home caring for members of their families. Volunteers distributed the bags and the team received many thanks including the following
“Thank you, for taking the time out to drop Ryan's pack off. He is absolutely thrilled with it and cannot wait to get started! “
“Thank you for Ava’s bag. such a lovely thing to do. Ava’s loving filling the journal in!"
“Thank you kindly for Liam and Maria’s bags they love them. Keep safe everyone, see you all soon”
“Thank you for Miya’s bag of goodies, she is very, very thankful for them”
“Thank you for dropping Anya's gift bag of, it was a lovely surprise! She’s thrilled with it! She’s just enjoying filling in the booklet in.”
The photographs show some of the recipients along with the volunteers who helped pack and deliver the bags.
