The annual event to raise awareness of prostate cancer
ROTARY RIDE FOR PROSTATE CANCER
Anyone taking part in the ‘Formula Fun’ cycle event on Wednesday 10th July at Three Sisters Race Circuit will be able to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research at the same time, following an arrangement between Wigan Rotary Club and the organisers Wigan Council and Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles
The event now in its eighth year, attracted over 500 cyclists last year, and it is hoped many more will take part this year, and at the same time help Wigan Rotary Club raise money for prostate cancer research. Bikes and helmets will be available for hire on the day and the track is open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. This FREE family friendly event opens up the mile long circuit at Three Sisters to cyclists of all ages and abilities with the unique opportunity of cycling around the track, and there are plenty of other activities going on for the whole family to enjoy
All the money raised will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Research Unit at The Christie Hospital, and Wigan Rotary President John Wright said ‘one man dies every 45 minutes in the UK from prostate cancer and yet only about half the money is spent on research compared to women’s cancer.’
He is encouraging as many people as possible to come and take part, and said ‘it doesn’t matter how many laps you do and it’s an ideal way for all the family to get involved.’ and continued ‘there are many people in the Wigan borough who have been affected directly or indirectly with the awful disease and Wigan Rotary Club want to try and help fund more research. So why not bring the whole family along after school or after tea on Wednesday 10th July for a FREE fun filled cycle fest at Three Sisters Race Circuit!’
