Inspire Concert
The Wigan Club sponsored the annual Inspire Concert held on 25 January 2019 at Trinity United Reform Church. It was a delightful evening performed by the finalists of Wigan Young Musicians of the Year 2018 and winners of the O’Neil Scholarship. The concert raised £520 which will go to Wigan and Leigh Young Carers, an organisation close to Wigan Rotary ClubA raffle held during the evening raised £130. This will go to the Music Service to help local children who have difficulty being able to acquire musical instruments (make music).

The Wigan and District Heat of Youth Speaks for 2019
This event was held at St John Rigby College and again attracted diverse, current and relevant presentations. All were delivered with thought provoking eloquence.
Our special Guest was the DG Rtn Anthony Graves who presented certificates to the winning Chairperson, Speaker and Proposer of the Vote of Thanks
The overall winners were: Intermediate - St Peter’s High School (1). Senior: St Peter’s High School (2). A clean sweep !! Probably by now, a cliché - the quality of this competition improves year on year, a credit to everyone concerned. Particular thanks to the staff at St John Rigby, the Judges who as usual had a very difficult job and to Wigan Rotarian Gwyneth Millard for once again organising the event.
Friends of Wigan Rotary Club
At a January meeting President of Wigan Rotary Club, John Wright, was delighted to present the first of the club’s new ’Friends of Rotary’ certificates and pins to two ladies - Pat Carlton and Sylvia Inglis. Both of whom have served the club over many years, particularly undertaking numerous duties connected with the Christmas float. President John expressed the club’s grateful and sincere thanks to both of them and said he looked forward to their continuing support.
