HELPING THE HOMELESS
Wigan Rotary Club and Soroptimists International of Wigan have again joined together to help ‘The Brick’ by donating sleeping bags for some of the homeless in the town.
Wigan Rotary Club president John Wright said, ‘this is the eighth year we have joined with our Soroptimist friends to help such a worthwhile charity as ‘The Brick’. While we hope the winter is not as severe as last year, there will still be a demand for sleeping bags.’
Angela Holmes Wigan Soroptimist President agreed and continued, ‘the charity do such wonderful work in the town and one our club has supported for many years. In the current economic climate, the demand for this type of facility they provide is only going to increase.’
Ged Bretherton from The Brick is delighted with the donation said ‘we are very grateful for the sleeping bags from two groups who have given us regular support over the years. I can assure everyone that the sleeping bags will be well used over the coming months whatever the weather. He continued ‘we are always in need of donations of food for our Food Bank which now issues over 500 parcels each month and any help from the public would be much appreciated.’
