Another first for St John Rigby College
Excited, eager and a great sense of pride – just a few of the ways to describe the beginning of an amazing partnership between Wigan Rotary Club and a budding group of enthusiastic St John Rigby College students.
St John Rigby - The Interact Club (‘SJR TIC’) assembled for its first ever meeting in October. As the first Interact Club in Greater Manchester, the group is looking to establish its place in St John Rigby College and the wider community, both locally and internationally.
‘Interact’, a programme set up and supported by Wigan Rotary Club, is a fantastic opportunity for young people to work as a collective to undertake at least two projects during the year – one with a focus on a local community issue and one that helps to promote international understanding.
It is a great opportunity for young people to develop their skills in teamwork, leadership and communication, as well as working to promote causes and give something back to the local and wider international community. The support provided by Wigan Rotary Club has been fantastic and the Interact Club continues to develop links with Rotary members, firstly within the Wigan area but also across the world. Their first activity was to support the Rotary Club of Wigan with their Christmas Float and collections at Tesco.
