What to Expect During our Meetings

Welcome!
We know that coming along to a Rotary meeting for the first time can feel a little daunting — especially when you’re not quite sure what to expect.

7.00pm – Let’s Get Started!

The President will welcome everyone, introduce any guests and, if we have one, our speaker for the evening.

We’ll also give a shout-out to anyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary in the coming week.

Then it’s time for one of our little bits of fun — the Mystery Member!

The President will reveal three interesting (and sometimes surprising!) facts about one of our members. Can you work out who it is?

7.15pm Then it’s on with the important stuff… well, sort of!

We’ll have a few club announcements, including any Greetings from other Rotary Clubs, news about upcoming events and anything else members need to know.

We’ll then have a run-through the agenda during the evening and give everyone the chance to raise anything they want to discuss.

8.00pm approx. – Guest Speaker

If we have a speaker joining us, this is their moment!

Our speakers can talk about pretty much anything — from their work and hobbies to local projects, charities, amazing experiences or something completely unexpected.

Talks are usually around 10–30 minutes, followed by plenty of time for questions, comments and the occasional bit of friendly debate!

We’ll then give our speaker a Vote of Thanks before moving on.

To Finish

Before we head off, the President will let everyone know what’s coming up at our next meeting

And Then… Home Time!

Meetings usually finish somewhere between 8.30pm and 9.00pm — although the conversation may continue for a little longer!

And that’s pretty much it!

There’s no need to know all the Rotary lingo, no need to give a speech and definitely no need to stand on ceremony.

We’re here to have fun, make friends, support our local community, raise money for good causes and enjoy ourselves along the way.

So come along, get involved, have a laugh and see what Three Rivers Rotary is all about.
