A New Chapter for Turton Rotary Club: Annual President Handover Marks Another Year of Community Service

TURTON — The Rotary Club of Turton has officially marked the beginning of a new Rotary year with its annual President Handover ceremony, celebrating twelve months of impactful local fundraising and welcoming the leadership that will guide the club into its next chapter.

The evening brought together members, charity partners, and friends of the club to reflect on a remarkably successful year of community initiatives, including the massive success of the annual Duck Race at Bradshaw Brook and dedicated support for local charities and organisations. 

Reflecting on a Year of Impact

Before passing on the chain of office, the Outgoing President expressed immense gratitude to the members and the local community for their unwavering support over the past year.

"It has been an absolute honour to serve the Turton community this year," they noted. "From our major community events to the quieter, behind-the-scenes support we've been able to provide to local organisations in need, this club has proven once again that the spirit of 'Service Above Self' is alive and well in Turton. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together."

The past year saw the club strengthen its partnerships with vital local entities, including the Friends of Longsight, Bolton FM, and the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa. Highlights of the year included:

• The highly successful Annual Duck Race, which brought hundreds of local residents to Bradshaw Brook.

• Vital fundraising efforts to support a local young scout's journey to the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Poland.

• Consistent administrative and community backing that ensures every penny raised goes directly to worthy causes.

Welcoming the New Leadership

Following the reflections, the ceremonial chain of office was officially handed over to the Incoming President.

Accepting the role with enthusiasm, the new President praised their predecessor's dedication and outlined a vibrant vision for the upcoming year, which includes the highly anticipated Fundraising Gala Evening in aid of Lewis Rimmer at the Last Drop Village Hotel on September 10th.

"I am stepping into big shoes, but I am incredibly excited for the year ahead," the Incoming President said. "We have a fantastic team, brilliant charity partners, and a community that always steps up when it matters most. Our focus will remain on being an active, welcoming, and driving force for good right here in Turton."
