On Thursday 17th June 2021 President Geoff Sampson welcomed 21 members and Guests Alan Pithie and Amy Thomson to this lunch time meeting held by ZOOM.
Two apologies for absence were received.
This week Alan Pithie retiring Rector of Auchmuty High School was asked to come to this meeting to give us a talk, an update on schooling during us coming out of the Pandemic and Exams, but the real reason was to present Alan with a Rose bush which has been named after him. President Geoff had arranged for one of his neighbours Debbie Baker to enter Alan’s room whilst he was giving his talk, as she did so Alan was quite taken aback and overcome. Alan was receiving this presentation as a mark of appreciation for all the support he had given to Rotary and the community over his many years in Glenrothes. Thanks also to Rotarians Marilyn Robertson for the idea and Wilna Roger for obtaining the rose. We wish Alan a long and Happy retirement.
The Books abroad project is drawing to a close in our club as we have arranged to take the books up to St Andrews this coming Wednesday (today) having had great support from schools and the public.
President Geoff confirmed he had received from District the badge and certificate recognising Jack Dempsey as a Paul Harris fellow (PHF) as a result of his being a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member,
This coming week Thursday 24thJune 2021 brings to an end Geoff Sampson’s presidential year as he hands over the chain of office to incoming President Brian Johnson and his team to be SVP Lindsay Roy and JVP Iain Oates with the meeting being held on ZOOM at 1pm
