Lunch time meeting held on 18th September 2014

On Thursday 18th September 2014 President Chris Grist welcomed 28 Club Rotarians, Area 8 Assistant Governor and Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy Ann Mitchell and speaker Aisha al Sadie to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.
Three apologies for absence were received.
On reception this week was Will Wishart who said grace, Bill Wooton and John Ferris.
Will Wishart announced that the first match in the Gavel Competition against Dunfermline Carnegie at the Gilvenbank Hotel on Wednesday 17th September 2014 ended victorious by 10 points to 4. The next match will be against the Rotary Club of Stirling on 6th October in Stirling.
IPP Tracy Thomson had received a letter from District advising that those members of the club who had introduced a new member during the past year were to be presented with a new Rotary badge and as such along with herself, Murray Grubb, Iain Haywood were duly presented with this badge.
In the absence of Arlene Kidd, Brian Johnston gave an update on the water project where they were awaiting feedback on the water sampling/testing which had taken place. He also mentioned as part of Foundation that packs of Crocus bulbs had been acquired and they will be distributed between Glenrothes High and Rimbleton Primary who had agreed to participate in the project.
President Chris Grist advised she had attended the Inner Wheel meeting last Monday where she outlined Rotaries plans for the forthcoming year. She also mentioned and encouraged members to attend the District Conference which will take place in Dunblane on the 31st October 2014.
This week on Thursday 18th September 2014 our speaker was Aisha al Sadie learning Officer at Falkland Palace who spoke about her role at the Palace where she designs and implements learning programmes and events for schools. She also spoke about the National Trust formed in 1931 for the purpose of conserving our National Heritage.

This coming week on Thursday 25th September 2014 will be at Gilvenbank Hotel with the meeting commencing at 12.55pm, the speaker this week will be John Ferris giving members his vocational.
