RESTART A HEART

70 CHILDREN AT WERNETH PRIMARY SCHOOL JOIN THE EVENT.

RESTART A HEART DAY

Across Europe and Australia, Monday 16th October, 2017 was designated Restart a Heart Day, the aim was to train as many school children as possible in  one day to make sure that each child knew how t save a life.

Sudden out-of-hospital cardiac arrest without Cardio Pulmonary Resucitation (C P R) is the third leading cause of death.  Because of this in Europe and the U S A together 700,000 die people per year.  Many of these could be saved if more lay people were able to provide C P R.

Over the next five years the European Heart Resuscitation Council has a vision to create a nation of life savers.  The target is a minimum of two hours C P R training annually, in all schools for every child who reaches the age opf 12.  Children at this age are more responsive to instructions and are more willing to help others.

Once again - at Werneth Primary School - HeartStart Oldham, sponsored and manned by the Rotary Club of Oldham - in one and a half hours trained some 70 children, how to save a life.  In addition they were introduced to an Artificial External Defibrillator.

This very important skill is easy to learn and simple to use. Over the past 15 years the Rotary Club has trained people of all ages how to save lives.  The training is free and available to all ages.  For details please use the site contact facility.
