Notes from Business Meeting and Club Assembly held at Jaydees 23rd June 2026

Present: James Anderton, Assistant District Governor, President David Smith, Rebecca Gallagher, Ray Bointon, Ray Edwardson, Ian Parr, John Shaw, Len Rainford, Alan Robinson, Brian Woodward, Geoff Shaw, Derek Hirst, Les Clancy, Mike Eaves, Paul Mulvenna, John Morse, Phil Round, Ken Smith, Craig Roberts, John Graves, and Claire Chapman.

Saturday 27th Litter Pick

Sunday 28th June Race for Life, Haydock Park Racecourse 8.30am

Tuesday 30th June Social Lunch at the Victoria, 322 Wargrave Road, WA12 8EP. 12.30 pm £5.00 per head with a buffet. See separate email.

Friday 2nd-Sunday 4th October Social Weekend. Clifton Park Hotel, St Annes. Further details to follow.

Proposals:

Ray Edwardson proposed and Phil Round seconded that gift vouchers be awarded to the winners of the local heat of the Young Chef Competition. This motion was carried.

Ray Edwardson proposed and Rebecca Gallagher seconded that vouchers, plus the cost of two photo frames, be awarded to the joint winners of the Young Photographer Competition. This motion was carried.

Club Assembly

Plans  from the various teams were read out to members as our guests had not previously been circulated.

Proposals:

John Graves Proposed and Les Clancy seconded that the subscriptions for 2026/2027 be £138.00. This is an increase of £3.00 from last year, to cover the increase of £2.00 for District and an increase of £1.00 for RGB&I. The motion was carried with one abstention. Payment may be made in full, or £83.00 in July 2026 and £55.00 in January 2027

John Morse proposed and Ian Parr seconded that a sum be transferred from the Beer Festival Account to the Charity Account. The motion was carried with one abstention.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting closed at 8.10 pm.

Over the Rotary year your generous donations have been used to support a diverse range of causes. A total of £20,764 was donated with a further £2,600 distributed to the community groups that helped us with our float collections.
