Notes from the Business Meeting 24 March 2026

Present: David Smith, Rebecca Gallagher. Ian Bowden, Steve Owen, Les Greenall. Ian Parr. Ken Smith, Mike Eaves, Ray Bointon, John Shaw, Harry Steven, John Kilshaw, Les Clancy, Derek Hirst, Stuart Ainscough John Graves, Paul Mulvenna, Geoff Shaw, John Morse, Alan Robinson. and Robert Smyth

Apologies: Vivienne Clancy, Phil Round, Barry Curran, Ray Edwardson, Len Rainford and Alan Pomfret.

Long Service Award: President David presented a certificate to Ken Smith in recognition of his 50 years as a Rotarian.

Induction of a new member: Robert Smyth was formally welcomed into our Club and to the Rotary family

Donations: It was proposed by Ian Bowden and seconded by Les Greenall that the Club donates towards Water Aid. This was carried with one member voting against the proposition and one abstention.

Les Clancy proposed and Ian Parr seconded that the winner of the national Young Citizen’s Award should be given a donation in tokens, and the other four nominees also be given vouchers at a lower value. This motion was carried unanimously.

Ian Parr proposed and John Morse seconded that a donation be given to Earlestown Cricket Club to provide signs around its ground. The motion was carried unanimously.

Treasurer’s comment: Derek stated that caution should be applied before considering any further donations.

In the Rotary year 24/25 we have distributed £21,335 and supported 34 local and UK charities and 13 International projects. Also see our 2025 Wrapped which gives a summary of all the things we achieved.
