Tonight our club held its first meeting on our revised schedule.

This was an open forum to discuss hiow the tranistion is going.

Notes from the meeting 12/08/25

1 Proposal to purchase 2 kegs of beer for Earlestown Cricket Club to help support their fund raising day for M.N.D. on Sunday August 24th. Proposed by Ian Parr and seconded by Derek Hirst. Carried unanimously.

2. Proposal to purchase 1 box of Crocus corms to support End Polio Now  Proposed by Phil Round and seconded by Alan Pomfret. Carried unanimously.

3. David Smith spoke about the District Conference in Llandudno. He is trying to put together a 2 night hotel package for those who wish to attend. He already has a few names. If you wish to be added to the list please reply to this email. The dates are Friday 17/10/25 and Saturday 18/10/25.

4.David Smith spoke about the arrangements for Charter Night scheduled for Wednesday November 12th. The planned venue is the Mercure Hotel. Dress will be formal/lounge suits and the cost will be £40.00 per head. Rooms for an over night stay with breakfast will be £105 per double room.

5. Motor Neurone Disease Fund Raising Day at Earlestown Cricket Club Sunday 24/08/25. There will be a limited over cricket match against Norcross. Karl Allen’s father suffered from this terribly debilitating disease and played for Norcross. Ian Parr plans to have a tombola and coconut shy at the event after the successful Town Show presence. Please could you supply Ian with prizes for the Tombola A.S.A.P. He will require volunteers to help put up the Gazebos and man the stalls 1200-1600 approx.

6. The new timetable of meetings was discussed and JS said we needed to let it run for 6 months and review in the new year.

7. JG asked the question about what were we going to do on the 2nd Tuesday of the month?? Various options were discussed and in the first instance we will try and have speaker next month.

8.DS mentioned some members were confused to when the meetings were scheduled despite this information being clearly available on the website under the future meetings tab. JMo thought that a paper schedule could be produced for those members who wanted one. To this end I will include a list of meetings for August/September at the end of this document.

9. DS said the Exec will discuss alternative venues at the next Exec meeting

10. DH thought members should send apologies for all meetings.

11.The social meeting on the 5th Tuesday of September (Sep 30) is a planned Macmillan coffee morning hosted by Claire Chapman.

12. DS is in the process of planning a trip to Barton Grange Garden Centre with a barge trip along with a Fish and Chips meal

**The reason for the lunch time meeting in September being on the 2nd Tuesday is to accommodate the John Vardy Awards

**Phil Round regularly updates the website with a comprehensive meeting schedule and will update the website with a provisional schedule to year end for discussion at the next executive meeting.
