OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE 25/26

Our Youth Services Team who provide opportunities for young people outlined their strategic plan for 25/26 at club assembly on 24 June 25.

Youth Services’ proposed programme for 25/26

This programme aims to empower local youth through initiatives that foster leadership, community engagement, and personal development. It will focus on creating opportunities for skill-building workshops, outdoor activities, and mentorship schemes, all designed to enrich the lives of young participants and ignite their potential.

We intend to carry on with the competitions which have been successful over a number of years. In addition, we have received the support from local schools and youth organisations which we wish to continue to foster.

Art Prize. Entry forms have been delivered to the primary schools and the winners will be announced before the end of the school year.

Young Achievers. Letters have been sent to 18 primary schools in the local area seeking nominations for their outstanding pupils. Presentations will be made before the end of the summer term, and assistance from members is sought to attend the prize giving at the various schools,

John Vardy Awards. At the January Business Meeting, it was agreed that the selected students at Byrchall High, Cansfield High , St Edmund Arrowsmith , Golborne High and Hope Academy would each receive an award of £200.00 towards the costs for furthering their education. Presentations will be made at our Club meeting in September.

Following the success over a number of years we will encourage young people to enter or be nominated for the following Rotary competitions:

  • Youth Speaks. Hope Academy has already submitted entry forms. Our Club has been asked to sponsor the Golborne Heat in February again.

  • Young Photographer. We had the District winner and runner-up this year. We are still awaiting the result of the national final.

  • Young Chef.

  • Young Citizen

RotaKids. Initial contact with All Saints Catholic Primary School , Golborne. We are awaiting to hear from the school to ascertain whether the parents are happy in the formation of a new club.

The Million Meal Miracle. Along with the International Team, Youth Services is happy to support this project at Wargrave Church of England Primary School.
