WHAT WE DO AROUND THE WORLD-25/26

Our international team presented its strategic plan for the new Rotary year at our club assembly on 24 June 25.

International Team: Summary of Plans for 2025-26

1. Our ongoing project . . .

Newclare Primary School – Situated in a deprived area on the outskirts of Johannesburg, surrounded by drugs and associated gun crime, the school functions with limited resources.

Over the last two years we supported the schools library refurbishment programme, which is proving to be a major benefit for the children. It has been redecorated, reordered and partially restocked.

More recently works have been completed to join the library to the unused computer, resource room. This is a further enhancement to the school and will again improve the learning experience for the children who attend the school. A safe storage room is also available and an area for the staff.

The International Team will continue to work with and support Newclare Primary School in the coming Rotary year.

2. Our existing longer-term commitments include . .  .

Foundation – Polio Plus

International Children’s Trust (ICT) – To support the education of two boys in India;

SOS Children’s Villages – To support the development of two girls in Tanzania and Ethiopia.

Rotary Shoebox Scheme

3. In addition to the above we will consider reasonable donations to the following causes, subject to need and available funds. . .

Mary’s Meals Global Sight Solutions

Disaster Aid

Water Aid

AquaBox

Candlelight for Empowerment

African Adventures Foundation

MSF

SmileTrain

and others……

4. Disasters.

If there is a major disaster in the world we would look to the club to give financial support to help the people involved to recover, either through a Rotary co-ordinated initiative or via other aid agencies, as is most appropriate and as funds permit.

On behalf of the International Team, I commend this programme to the Club.
