THE MILLION MEAL MIRACLE

Tue, Jul 8th 2025 at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

VENUE: Wargrave County Primary School, Bradleigh Road.
This event replaces our normal Tuesday lunch meeting.

Rotary Newton-le-Willows and Wargrave C of E Primary School were delighted to join forces with the Million Meal Miracle initiative on 8th July, 2025. Pupils, teachers, and Rotary volunteers united for an inspiring hands-on event, packing nutritious meals destined for children facing food insecurity in Zimbabwe. Each carefully prepared pack provides six nutritionally balanced meals, directly supporting health, education, and the potential of children in need.

Two meal pack sessions were held. The children were absolutely brilliant, working hard, showing compassion and doing their school proud. Over 7,500 meals were packed

By way of context:

For the children who receive these meals, the impact is life-changing. Regular, balanced nutrition ensures they can attend school consistently, concentrate better in class, and enjoy improved overall health. With each meal packed, pupils at Wargrave C of E Primary are directly contributing to improving educational outcomes and reducing malnutrition for peers thousands of miles away, demonstrating the global power of compassion.

Closer to home, this event offers significant educational benefits for the participating classes. Pupils will engage with real-world issues such as hunger, poverty, and global citizenship, fostering empathy, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of their role in the world community. Through active participation, students gain valuable insights into the challenges faced by others, helping shape them into thoughtful, globally aware citizens.

At the heart of this event is the Rotary value of "Service Above Self." By dedicating their time and energy to help others, volunteers from our club, alongside pupils and school staff, showcase the strength and unity of the local community. This collective effort not only strengthens local bonds but also creates a lasting legacy of compassion and collaboration, highlighting how communities working together can drive meaningful, positive change worldwide.
