Today's meeting was the annual John Vardy Memorial Awards.

The John Vardy Annual Awards, established in 1987, honour the memory of John Vardy, founder of the Rotary Club of Newton-le-Willows and former Principal of Redbank School.

Dedicated to education and community service, John's legacy continues through these awards, which recognises students who have made a valuable contribution to the life of their school before going on to further education.

This year the awards were presented to:

Layla Collier-Cottrell, Byrchall High School with Miss Jones.

Jack Gill, Hope Academy with Molly Stefford.
