The speaker at lunch today was Harry Smedley from the Royal British Legion, Ashton Branch. He thanked us for the help with the poppy appeal at Tesco, Haydock where a total of £15,997 was raised to help with their work.

He gave us a very graphic report of his time in Afganistan and how the monies we helped to collect is used to help the injured recover.

He spoke in great detail of some individual cases where the funds have been used to improve their lives.
