Key Points from the Business Meeting 26/11/24

Present- Ray Edwardson (Chair), John Murray, Ray Bointon, Barry Curran, Les Clancy, John Morse,, Ken Smith, Ian Parr, Les Greenall, Len Rainford, Harry Steven, Alan Robinson, Alan Pomfret, Derek Hirst, Rebecca Gallagher, Stuart Ainscough, John Shaw, David Smith and Geoff Shaw.(19 in attendance)

1.A Donation  to Wargrave Community Choir. Proposer Stuart Ainscough, Seconder Len Rainford. 19 For and 0 Against

2.A Donation to Newton Community Hospital Welfare Fund. Proposer Stuart Ainscough, Seconder Alan Pomfret. 17 For, 1 Against and 1 Abstention.

3.Young Achiever Award to be increased( in lieu of the fact that Dictionaries will not be given in the future).Proposer John Shaw, Seconder John Morse. 19 For and 0 Against.

4. Donation to Hope Academy’s Hardship Relief Fund. Proposer Les Clancy, Seconder Les Greenall. 19 For and 0 Against

5. Donation to Association of Breast Surgery for it’s Zimbabwe project. Proposer Alan Pomfret, Seconder Ian Parr. 19 For 0 Against.

6. Donation to Lebanese Rotary Clubs for Displaced Lebanese People. Proposer Alan Pomfret, Seconder Ray Bointon. 19 For and 0 Against.

7. A further donation  to be added to the amount raised by Ascent College for End Polio Now. Proposer Alan Pomfret, Seconder Harry Steven. 19 For and 0 Against.

8. There was a robust discussion about visiting the Community hospital both at Christmas and throughout the year. The Secretary stated that when he had put a note out on 2 occasions for hospital visitors the response had been low with only 4 affirmative replies. Hospital visiting will be explored again in the New Year and the hospital contacted re the feasibility and appropriateness of visiting especially in regard to infection control.

9. Alan Pomfret stated that there are still funds available for a District Award (with matched funding from the Club). Applications for an award need to be submitted by 31/12/24.

10. The Secretary reminded members that there is no lunch meeting on Tuesday 17/12/ 24
