Business meeting to vote on proposals from teams and deal with other business. Buffet from 6.45pm.


 

Decisions and Key points from the Business Meeting 23/07/24

20 members in attendance.

Present - Stuart Ainscough, Ray Bointon, Clare Chapman, Les Clancy, Barry Curran, Ray Edwardson (Chair), John Graves, Les Greenall, John Morse, Karrina Morse ( friend of Rotary), Steve Owen,  Ian Parr, Alan Pomfret, Len Rainford, Alan Robinson, Phil Round, Geoff Shaw, John Shaw, David Smith, Harry Steven, Brian Woodward.

1. Ray Edwardson made a special welcome to Karrina Morse and acknowledged all her work at the recent beer festival and many other community based events.

2. Proposal to transfer monies from the Beer Festival account to the Charity Account. The Transfer is required as we have a large number  of committed payments due. Proposed by Stuart Ainscough and seconded by Geoffrey Shaw. The proposal was carried unanimously 20 for, and non against.

3. Proposal to donate to the Viaduct Club in lieu of rent for siting of the 2 containers on their carpark for 1 year. Proposed by Geoffrey Shaw and seconded by Ian Parr. The proposal was carried 19 for, non against and 1 abstention.

4. Proposal to donate to Newton Community Centre to support under privileged children on their Summer Play Scheme. Proposed by Alan Robinson and seconded by Ian Parr. The proposal was carried unanimously 20 for and non against.

5. Proposal to donate to Wargrave C of E Primary School for development of their Sensory Garden. Proposed by Ian Parr and seconded by John Morse. The proposal was carried unanimously 20 for and non against.

6. Their was a robust discussion about the planning for the Christmas Float. Alan Robinson stated that all the issues from the club discussion in January had been addressed. Alan Robinson and Ian Parr will continue with their plans and present them to the club in due course.

7. There was discussion about when this years payment to the Boys and Girls club would be made. It was decided that we would wait for Mike Eaves’s input as he is a Trustee of NB&GC. The club was reassured that the funds are allocated and ring fenced.

7. John Graves gave a brief update about the work of the Membership working group and the event “Help Rotary - Help The Community” scheduled for Thursday September12th. He encouraged all members to promote this to individuals who have shown an interest. The event will be posted on Social Media.

8. The Club led by President Ray thanked John Shaw for all his hard work in organising yet another successful Young Achiever Awards celebration.

9. President Ray expressed his thanks to all those who helped with the Race Afternoon at Cancello especially Ian Parr, David Smith and Alan Robinson.

10. President Ray discussed the Environmental Working Group’s status and posed the question as to whether it should become a team in it’s own right. This will be discussed in the future.
