LUNCH MEETING

Tue, Jan 16th 2024 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Venue: HPGC.
Agenda: Christmas Float Activity. Debrief
Fellowship Stewards: BRIAN WOODWARD + RICHARD YORK.

There were 21 Rotarians present at today's meeting.
1. Financial Decisions.
A proposal was put to the Club by IP to donate to Brainwaves.
A proposal was put to the Club by CR to donate  to NADOS.

2. Club discussion on Christmas float.
1.The Club needs to review how the float is executed- both mobile and static components. There were difficulties in staffing both.
2. There are mobility issues.. only 17 members walked round....is this enough for 14 rounds?
3.The comfort of Santa needs to be reviewed, car exhaust fumes, generator exhaust and noise. (Could the float be fitted with batteries for the music and lights?)
4. The need for community organisations is paramount.
5. Review of locations of statics. Consider Costco etc)
6. Review of the rounds for the mobile float.
7. Consider swapping a mobile round for a static round.
8. Reconsider the High Street event and Earlestown.
9. Start and finish points to be closer together on some rounds.
10. Two Strategic Goals need considering when planning the future of the float namely "Happiness of Children" and "Financial Effectiveness"
11. The duration of the mobile rounds needs to be reviewed. 2-2.5 hrs maximum. Some rounds may therefore need to be split.
12. There needs to be a plan for Float maintenance, which starts in the summer months.
13. Consider timetabled stops on the mobile rounds, where children and families can safely gather.
14.The need for more Santas and back up drivers
Conclusion- the Club needs to set up a cross club committee to review the organisation of the Christmas float.
