MEMBERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT GROUP

This is a new group formed during the last Rotary year.23/24 Its remit is to look at how we move the club forward and recruit a more diverse membership

At the 2024 club assembly, July 9, the group's chair, John Graves, further reported on the work to date and plans for the future.

The Club Development group has spent the last year looking at ways that we can recruit new members in the short and medium term. We have also proposed that we have a long term strategy to ensure the club’s continued growth and to ensure that the work we do in the local and international community is maintained in the future.
Hopefully in this Rotary year the club can turn its focus from discussion to agreement of a way forward and then putting that plan in place.
We have agreed that there is no need to change the current lunchtime meeting schedule and that we should recruit new members into this part of our club where possible.
However we need to create a Rotary experience that will be attractive to a more diverse audience and the club has been briefed on the options that we are considering.
We will investigate the possibility of project groups involving local community representatives and potential new members.
We will also look at how a group of members meeting at different times and with a diverse mix could be integrated into the existing club or form a new club, although we recognise that the latter has disadvantages.
I would like to put a firm proposal from the group to the club in the next couple of months for agreement and move on to the implementation stage.
The next Rotary year will hopefully offer a route to a successful future.
