Today's speaker was Pauline Payne, Chair of Trustees, Wigan and Leigh Hospice  who informed the club of the history of the hospice, the services it provides and the help and support it gives to members of the community.

Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a registered charity serving people across Wigan borough who have been diagnosed with an illness which is no longer curable. The charity believes passionately in providing care suited to every patient’s unique needs.It operates every day, 365 days a year, from its base in Hindley and its aim is to offer a supportive, caring approach to everyone who uses its services.

It believes that hospices should be about living as well as dying.

The club has made a donation to this charity.

Over the Rotary year your generous donations have been used to support a diverse range of causes. A total of £20,764 was donated with a further £2,600 distributed to the community groups that helped us with our float collections.
