VENUE: HPGC.
AGENDA: SOCIAL LUNCH
FELLOWSHIP STEWARDS: BRIAN WOODWARD + RICHARD YORK

A total of 18 people attended lunch at HPGC.

This was our first meeting on the second Tuesday of the month based on the new meeting rota and is classed as a social lunch, no speaker but we have time for various discussion points after the meal.

District Grant - An award for replacement boiler at Newton Boys and Girls Club. The community committee has previously suggested a donation  to match the district grant. The total project cost was much higher  and it was suggested that the club increases its contribution so that the work can be totally funded. This should be discussed and voted on at the business meeting later this month.

Crocus corms have arrived and we are looking for five/six sites/groups that we can work with to plant the corms in the following areas, Newton, Earlestown, Burtonwood, Haydock, Golbourne and Lowton. Ian Parr is going to look at Lowton and Ian Bowden at Burtonwood. All suggestions for sites/groups to Phil Round asap. World Polio Day is Monday 24th October.
Race Afternoon and Food at Ariete in Newton-le-Willows on Saturday 29th October. Ian Parr is organising the event and Geoff Shaw will send out the relevant details by separate email. Money raised during this event will be donated to End Polio Now.

Apple Crop:Tony Chandler has an excess of excellent Bramley Apples from this years crop and asked if members of the club would like some. A number of members indicated that they would like some and an email will be sent to all members of the club to see if there are other who would like some.

Jansa Project after club donations and the positive outcome to the district grant application, the cluster group needs to raise a final £1365. The villagers have sent Phil Round two whicker baskets and we have decided to run two raffles through the Rotary Club of Leigh and our own club prior to Christmas. If any members would like to donate a bottle of wine, spirit, box/carton of chocolates we can make up a number of prizes, similar to what Ray Edwardson did for the Burns Night Raffle. If members were to donate a prize for the raffle please pass on to either Ray Edwardson or myself (Alan)
