Byrchall High School student, Thomas Abbott is runner up in this year's competition.
A big congratulations to Byrchall High School students Thomas Abbott and Annabelle Broxton for qualifying for our NW England and Isle of Man District Young Chef Competition.
This year’s District Young Chef was hosted by Sharples High School, Bolton. It was a competition straight out of an episode of Master Chef. We had the Chefs, the judges, the gourmet foods, the drama, the tears and cheers and a winner! We want to give a shout out to Safiyyah Patel from Sharples High School for winning 1st prize.
Our own Thomas Abbott won second prize with an award-winning Citrus Punch, Grilled Spiced Chicken skewers accompanied by seasoned roast vegetables, garlic and lemon rice and finishing off with a mini Lemon Drizzle Loaf served with fresh lemon cream.
Awards were presented by District Governor Edwin Partridge, District Young Chef Leads Swati Mukherjee and Mark Bailey. All of the Chefs were awarded a certificate of Achievement, an apron, a cookbook, a trophy and the first and second place won a £100 and £50 voucher (respectively) from Joseph Holt Brewery.
We would also like to thank our Chef Judges, Brendan Corder and Mark Gauder from Joseph Holt Brewery. Pres-Elect Rebecca Gallagher and 2026/27 Youth Services Lead Ray Edwardson were there to cheer the aspiring young Chefs on. We can’t wait to see what Thomas and Annabelle do in the future.
