Treasurer’s Report: A donation has been sent to Willowbrook Hospice in memory of Austin Polding. Subsequently a further sum had been received from the family. It was proposed by Alan Pomfret and seconded by John Morse that a further club donation  be made to the Hospice. This motion was carried with one abstention.

The balance of the of donations qualifying for gift is currently zero. We need to raise funds by the end of March 2027, to claim £2,000. It was suggested that members make donations in lieu of sending Christmas Cards. At present we have 34 active members and a donation of £24 each would produce the required amount.

Proposals:

Newton Community Centre has requested funding for a picnic bench, which would have a Rotary message on a plaque. It was proposed by Ian Parr and seconded by Ken Smith that the Club donates. The motion was carried without dissent.

The High Street Hive is looking for a donation towards the Christmas Lights. It was proposed by Ian Parr and seconded by John Shaw, that the Club provisionally agree to this donation. The motion was carried unanimously.

The International Team considered a donation in support of the work that Disaster Aid is undertaking in Venezuela after the recent earthquake. Barry Curran proposed and Stuart Ainscough seconded that the Club makes the appropriate donation. The motion was passed with one abstention.

RotaKids have collected a number of items for the New Mother and Baby Bags for Ukraine via Wendy Warrington. These items were collected before the summer break. As the next delivery to the Ukraine is early in September, there probably insufficient time for the children to complete the exercise. It was proposed by Ian Parr and seconded by Derek Hirst that the Club purchases the outstanding items The motion was carried unanimously.

Fellowship weekend. Payment is now due. Transfers should be made to the Number One Account.

The Community Allotment: A working party is required to help move a steel shed on Wednesday 2nd September at 10am. Please let Ian Parr know if you are able to assist.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting closed at 8.25 pm.
