Hope House, a hospice for children unlikely to reach adulthood due to illness, was

formed after the parents of Hope Peachey of Oswestry had to travel to Birmingham

for hospice care for their terminally ill daughter and was named after her.

Two hospices have now been opened, the first in Oswestry in 1996 and the second
in Colwyn Bay in 2000. Both hospices were funded by public donations.

Their purpose is to support families in the Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire
areas throughout the period leading to the death of a child and additionally provide
respite care and community nursing particularly in those areas furthest from the
            hospices e.g. Crewe and Nantwich.

The hospices contain eight family rooms, a playroom, art room, puppet theatre,
music room, multi-sensory room and a hydro-therapy pool. The last donation from
our Club was used to update the play area at the Oswestry hospice.
Both hospices also have a 'Snowflake' room where families can be with their
            children after death.

Friendliness is emphasized, there are no uniforms and everyone eats together.

Each hospice has a  'Building bridges' group and an 'Outreach' team  where
            problems can be discussed.

           The hospices cost approx.
