On 25th May, the club donated £400 to Sanctuary Café to enable them to cover the cost of these new tables and table covers, which have created a new and attractive setting for their good work. Rotarians Linda Monk and Alan Edwards visited the Cafe to hand over a cheque to Sue Eadon and Kath Mellor, to admire the new setting, and to enjoy their homemade, delicious refreshments.
The café came into being as a Churches Together Project some 11 years ago. It is very much a part of the community, it’s accessible to all and is very popular. Somewhere to sit and chat, and feel welcome.Inside there’s a play area for youngsters, a book section and a variety of greeting cards on sale. They also sell homemade jams and chutneys. On dry days there is seating available outside.
Last year on VE Day they made and delivered 900 afternoon teas around the area . They will provide afternoon teas or cream teas, buffets or business lunches to order by either ringing them : 01925 753987 or by going online to their website : info@sanctuarycafe.org.uk
