Each year we search out and give recognition to an individual who gives so much time and effort in helping others. Each year we ask local groups, organisations etc. to nominate someone who give so much of themselves for others. At our annual ceremony we show our appreciation to sadly only one of the many deserving nominees, by presenting them with the Cyril Bell Award, a magnificent rosebowl, together with a chaque for £500 for their chosen charity.
Dickensian Day
Our Santa's Sleigh makes a festive contribution to the Dickensian Day parade, held annually on the 2nd Saturday in December. We have been involved in the organisation and support of the festival since its commencement in 1986. Shopkeepers and villagers dress up in Victorian costume, and the centre of the village is closed to traffic, permitting an enjoyable festive atmosphere. A grand parade, involving floats by local schools, opens festivities.
Lymm May Queen Festival
We have regularly supported this event which takes place on the second Saturday in June. It originated in 1889, when the local Band of Hope held a festival in the village. Although it lapsed in 1937, it recommenced in 1947, and has been held annually, with growing popularity, since.
