School Trip To London 2015 (Part 2)

These caps proved to be fantastic, at being able to keep the group together throughout the day), and catching the Virgin train to London this was in itself an experience with at least one child having never been on a train.  

Arriving in London just after 0900 and then catching the Underground tube to the Tower of London. We met our Blue Badge Guide and the kids were given a tour of the tower. The chance to see the Crown jewels and the experience of seeing armour and touching many different types of weapons was a real treat. Pictures and selfies taken with the RAF Guards and also the Beefeater (Who was actually from Bolton), before we had lunch. Then back on the tube to the Embankment and to go on a river cruise from the London Eye to the Thames Barrier.

As we had a little time to kill ice creams for everyone and a chance to see all the 'street theatre' along the embankment.

Then back in time for a ride on the London Eye and to see the sights of London from a different view. Then tea, at where else, but McDonalds.

After this is was the start home but time for some souvenir buying before back on the tube to Euston to catch our train back to Wigan.

The weather was glorious the kids were very well behaved, and really enjoyed the whole experience. Most of the teachers were new and they also felt the trip was really good and could not thank Rotary enough for giving these children such an enjoyable and educational journey. 

At the end everyone had had a wonderful day and the children I am sure the kids were exhausted and had a really good night's sleep.

This is just is just a quick summary, but to see the faces of the kids (and teachers) showed how worthwhile supporting this event really is and as my first time accompanying them I found it a marvellous experience.
