Rotarian Derek Snowden's humanitarian voyage to Ukraine
Our newest Rotarian, Derek Snowden provides a few words and images of the journey he took when Mayor of Blackrod with essential items to the Ukraine.
When Derek was Mayor of Blackrod Mayor, together with the Mayors of Bolton and Westhoughton and members of Westhoughton British legion, we drove 4 ambulances and two utility vehicles over to Ukraine to be used on their front line.
Restrictions meant that we could only drive as far as the Poland/Ukraine border where the were handed over to the Ukrainian team.
This also raised publicity for International Aid Trust, which Horwich Rotary has supported over the years. When we left Bolton Town Hall we were filmed and had interviews with BBC radio, Granada Reports and Bolton News.
