The 2024 Awards attracted a high level of quality applications from primary and secondary-aged youngsters either resident or at school or college in Horwich or Blackrod. In honour of Phil Gibbs, an award for outstanding achievement valued at £500 from the fund bequeathed in his estate to Horwich Rotary was awarded. This was made to Annalisa Gilmore for her achievements across the UK in Musical Theatre.
A further 18 awards of £200 were made for Higher Achievement across disciplines of Motocross, Waterpolo, Golf, Athletics, Music (Tenor Horn, Cornet, Singing), Irish Dance, Gymnastics, Trampolining, Ballet, Wrestling, Swimming, Tennis, Football and Jiu-Jitsu.
16 Achievement Awards of £100 were made across disciplines of Music (including Guitar and Drumming), Dance, Football, Cricket, Hockey, Athletics, Ballet & Swimming.
These awards help these youngsters to progress even further in their chosen sport or form of art, music, dance, etc. A total of £6000 was awarded, made possible by the generosity of the people of Horwich and Blackrod who donate or sponsor the Beer Festival and Christmas Collections.
The Presentation Night was held at St. John's Methodist Church on November 20th. There is also a video on the Horwich Rotary YouTube Channel.
