President Ian Cochrane

2021/22 Club President Ian Cochrane is a very keen walker and decided that he was going to undertake 3 very demanding walking challenges back to back during the week commencing 9th August 21 in order to raise funds for the Club.  These involved:

Welsh 3000 Challenge - climbing all 3 mountain ranges in Snowdonia and climbing all 15 peaks over 3,000 in under 24 hours. Ian completed this challenge on 10th August in well under the 24 hour target.

Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge - walking 24.5 miles and climbing over 5,500 feet in under 12 hours.  Ian finished this challenge on 11th August in just over 8 hours

National 3 Peaks - climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon in under 24 hours. Ian completed this challenge on 12th August in 22 hours with the last leg on Snowdon completed in 2 hours 50 mins despite 40mph gusts of wind.

Ian completed his challenge, assisted by Rotarians Brendan Lomas (left) and David Carter (right), who acted as his drivers on the National 3 Peaks challenge.

Ian is well on the way to raising £500 through his just giving page: http://just giving.com/i-cochrane.
