Despite a reduction in the Club's funding because lockdown meant the Santa float couldn't tour in 2020, club members unanimously agreed to continue with the Dragon's Den this year. They felt it important to support th valuable work that volunteers do to help the vulnerable and foster community life. After successfully running the Roary Local Heroes event on Zoom earlier in the year the Club put their virtual meeting skills to use again to host the event.
Eight shortlisted local charities were invited to join club members on zoom on 29th April and give a short presentation on their project to the three Rotary Dragons: new member, Danny Power, Ian Cochrane, Community Chair and President Elect and club member Jan Jackson. The eight applicants, who all received £250 each, were:
You Can Youth - donation to be used buy plants and equipment to renovate the garden
Friends of Dukinfield Old Hall Chapel - monies to be put towards the costs involved in transferring the site to preserve the chapel for the future
