Club Funds vs Charitable Status

Every Rotary Club has two very separate funds each with its own bank account.

The Benevolent Fund takes in money from the public and uses it to for 'good causes'.

The General Fund takes in members subscriptions and uses it to pay the costs of running the Club.

Any surplus in the General Fund from year to year can be gifted to the Benevolent Fund.  Money never flows from the Benevolent Fund to the General Fund.

The Rotary Club of Dunfermline has registered its Beneviolent Fund as a charity in Scotland (see the registration detail here).

This allows us to benefit from Gift aid whereby donations may be augmented by HMCR
