James Herriot Trail Run

Sun, Jul 30th 2006 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

A 14K run

Start

A record 234 runners registered for this year's run, 97 of them on the day! This caused minor panics at the registration tent and the car park, but was welcomed and everyone made the starting line in time. Jim Wight (son of James Herriot) started the race and presented the prizes. The weather was good, being rather cooler than it had been in the preceding week.

The race was won by Gary Dunn from the Thirsk & Sowerby Club in 54min 50 secs., just outside the record of 54.20 set by Lewis Banton last year. Lewis was second this year. Erica Johnson, our ladies winner in the past three years, is expecting a baby later in the year so did not run this time. Her title was taken by Alison Raw in 62.36 after a very good run which saw her come home 19th overall.

The winners list is shown below, and the full results listing all runners has been posted on John Schofield's site at www.ukresults.net .
