Business meeting

At the Business Meeting of the Club there were three guests from Northallerton Rotary Club and Em Lloyd-Davies the District Governor Nominee. The Group Study Exchange visitors from Nepal, expected in April, are currently having Visa problems and their timetable is currently unsure. The organisation for the” Best Kept Village” Competition for 2008 is well in hand. Local nominations for the Group Study Exchange to California are awaiting District approval. The Club is still collecting unwanted spectacles and is seeking Collecting centres in the Dales. The members’ involvement in the Food and Drink Festival in Leyburn in May was discussed at length. The organisational details for the Wensleydale Wander of 26th. April was finalised. Leyburn Town Council has granted permission to the Club on 23rd. and 24th. May to demonstrate a Shelter Box which contains a large tent, sleeping bags, cooker, water purification, warmth and shelter for ten people and can be sent anywhere in the world where disaster strikes. Each shelter Box costs £490. Members were reminded of the Masham Steam Fair on 19th. and 20th. July and the Herriott Run on 27th. July.
