Business meeting

Mon, Nov 5th 2007 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

At the Business Meeting on Monday the Club guest was District Governor Nominee Em Lloyd-Davies. The Club reviewed its programmes for the rest of the year, its several donations to local charities e.g. Cancer Research, Action Aid, Wensleydale School.  The organisation for the annual Christmas Meals on Wheels and Christmas Flowers Club donates was discussed. The planning for the Technology Tournament for Schools in the New Year was well advanced. The Carer’s holiday to Scarborough was to be arranged. Members were reminded of the Rotary Foundation Pie and Pea Supper at Askrigg on 23rd. November, open to the community, and were encouraged to sell tickets at £5.00.

The Paul Harris Annual Peace Seminar, held at the University of Bradford, assessing Avenues of Peace was well attended, highly stimulating and the Club expressed a wish to involve itself further, perhaps sponsoring young people to attend and have visiting Alumini to address open meetings in the Dale. Em Llloyd Davies said he was encouraged by the Club’s commitment to Rotary Foundation, not only by its consistent high level of financial support, but the practical support it provides.  He also discussed the future organisation of District Conferences.
