The first meeting of the new Rotary Year began with a discussion of the highly successful Handover and Charter Meeting held on 29th. June at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes attended by District Governor Chris Garner and the President –Elect of Rotary GB&I Alan Jagger and Robert Hughes was invested as the new President of the Club.  The following day a party attended the District Handover and Rotary GB&I Handover at The Royal Armouries, Leeds when Alan Jagger from District 1040 became the President of Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland.

The Masham Steam Rally on 21st and 22nd July will be well staffed but prizes are still needed for the Tombola. There are many entries for the Herriot Run of 24th. July and members were advised of their duties on the day.  Judging for the Best Kept Village will take place during the next two weeks. The Rotary World Peace Fellow, Angela Bruce Raeburn will speak in Harrogate on September 29th. and the Annual Peace Seminar will take place at the University of Bradford on 3rd. November.

Members were advised of the 2008 Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowships and the categories available with further details available at www.wcmt.org.uk with Derek Langley, a Churchill Fellow, willing to discuss Fellowships.
