Members hoping to hear the Lead Mining presentation of Frank Burns were disappointed as was unable to come due to illness

At short notice Andrew Beales the Foundation Director of Giggleswick School gave a consummate talk with a supportive visual presentation. The school was founded at the start of the 16th. Century by James Carr the Chantry Priest at the Parish Church of St. Alkelda. In 1553 it was granted a Royal Charter and was known as The Free Grammar School of King Edward VI. It moved to the present site in 1867. In 1897 a new school chapel was built with its distinctive copper dome. One of the school's notable 'recent' events was when it was selected as the official observation post for the 1927 solar eclipse.

The co-educational public school's educational record is impressive

The President David Pointon proposed the vote of thanks
