Rotarian Richard Goswel from the Rotary Club of Fishguard and Goodwick was a visitor to the Business Meeting. Discussion revolved around the recent and future activities of the Club: - work at the successful Food Festival in Leyburn, preparations for the 14k James Herriot Country Trail Run on 29th. July at Castle Bolton; presentation on 18th June by GSE Team returned from New Zealand; Charter and Handover Night on 29th. June when the Guest of Honour will be Rotary GB&I President Peter Offer. Donations are to be made to local people supporting Cancer Research UK. The Club in conjunction with the Richmond Rotary Club will judge the 5 villages in Wensleydale and 15 in Swaledale wishing to participate in the Best Kept Village Competition. A carer will be supported on a Holiday in Scarborough organised by Scarborough Rotary Club.  Derek Langley reported on the recent Wensleydale Wander when 265 people entered to walk 12 or 22 miles. The Wander raised £1,400 for Charity excluding Sponsorship monies still arriving. The catering, as always, was highly commended by the  Walkers but this would not be possible without the ladies cheerfully working so hard in the kitchen. Walkers report this is one of the best-marked events they enter, with plenty of checkpoints and water available.
