Wordplay with Phil Oliver

Mon, Nov 20th 2006 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Phil Oliver reminded fellow members that the Club had supported Beckie Kirkby, a young woman from West Witton, to take part in Operation Raleigh in Namibia. She had hoped to speak to the Club personally on her return, but had since moved to Gloucester, so had sent a report instead. This was read out, and it was clear she had had an exciting, though sometimes arduous time, involving a strenuous trek across mountains, followed by an environmental project to clear and recycle an enormous amount of rubbish, and finally to help complete a new school with plastering and artwork. Beckie found the whole experience challenging but fulfilling and recommended it to other young people. Phil then went on to entertain members with a series of mind teasers.
