Rotary Youth Leadership Awards(RYLA)

At Wakefield Chantry we have always been strong supporters of youth and recognise the value of RYLA courses provided by Rotary. These are three letters we received from our recent candidates which reinforces our conviction in the benfits fo this scheme. Unfortunately RYLA could not run in 2020 but we hope to support more candidates this year if possible. 

Hi Nigel, 

I am doing fine, the RYLA course has really helped me be more confident in different scenarios. Not only to help me manage other people and lead other people but to manage myself during my studies and how to properly apply my time. I recently started a new job and I found the course made me more relaxed and made it easier for me to now go into new jobs and new places and easily fit in with my colleagues.

Nice to hear from you, I’m at Nottingham Trent uni doing Sports and Exercise Science.  RYLA has helped my organisation and planning ahead (considerable difference now compared to before RYLA) as well as using most leadership lessons on the rugby pitch/training with my team. 

A simple yet important quality is I’m more confident in my own decisions helping me progress.

Hello Nigel its great to hear from you. 

I am currently serving as a seaman specialist in the Royal Navy on HMS Defender. I have been in for almost a year. Sadly, due to personal reasons, I will soon be leaving the navy. I plan on joining the police after I leave however. RYLA has definitely helped me out throughout my time in the Navy and I cant thank the staff enough for how much it has benefited me.
