Wakefield Chantry Rotary Club presented pupils at Criggletston St James Academy with their Illustrated English Dictionary at an school assembly. The “Dictionary 4 Life” is designed for year 6 pupils at Primary School to help with their studies in the final year of primary education and then through their Secondary years.
The Dictionaries were presented by Dick Wood, the President of the Rotary Club at the schools’ Remembrance Day assembly. Head Teacher, Glyn Denton, said “These books are really appreciated by the year 6 pupils. The school budget could not provide for one each so the school also appreciate the gesture by the Rotary Club. Most importantly we see the books being used by the pupils in their day to day studies.”
Year 6 pupils at Mackie Hill Junior and Infants School in Crigglestone have been presented with copies of the Usbourne Illustrated Dictionaries by the Rotary Club of Wakefield Chantry at an assembly at the school. The dictionaries had been inscribed with the pupils name by Colleen Gibson, retired Head of St James Academy.
Mackie Hill Head Teacher, Maxine Barker, said “these dictionaries, specifically designed to be given to year 6 primary students, are a wonderful addition to our teaching armoury. They are constantly in use by the pupils throughout their last year in Junior School and have the added benefit of being suitable to be taken up into senior school with them when they leave us next summer.”
