One of the most successful concerts ever put on by the Rotary Club of Wakefield Chantry, entertained nearly 100 people at the Park Restaurant, at Waterton Park Golf Club. Retired GP, Bob Dourado, and Funeral Director, Ian Howarth put on the show.
Ian, who many will remember as a member of 70’s rock group, Black Lace played a selection of guitar and vocal numbers on his 3 different guitars. The original group had a huge hit with Agadoo and also represented the UK at the Eurovision song contest in 1979 with the song “Mary Ann”. Dr Bob, lived up to his reputation as the Swinging Doctor by presenting a varied selection of easy listening numbers to the audience.
The concert also included a fund raiser for the Rotary Charity Fund which supports many varied local charities. A charity raffle with a major prize of a holiday for up to 4 people in Portugal and an auction of 4 corporate tickets for Manchester United helped raise a magnificent total of over £1200 for Charity.
Rotary President Bob Guard, said “this was a truly magnificent result. Not only did all of those who attended thoroughly enjoy themselves, but the total raised in aid of our Charites was fantastic.”
