ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS THE PERFORMING ARTS
Students from CAPA College give a stunning musical performance to the members of the Rotary Club of Wakefield Chantry at the inauguration of the Chantry Rotary Scholarship being provided to one student of the college. The scholarship, which will last for three years for the student selected, will be awarded annually by the Chantry Rotary Club in a new collaboration between the 2 organisations.
CAPA College is one of the North of England's leading post-16 Performing Arts colleges offering full time professional training and education in the Arts. Alongside achieving outstanding examination results past CAPA College graduates have progressed to some of the country's leading Performing Arts conservatoires and universities and now are working successfully in the professional Performing Arts sector.
The inaugural scholarship has been presented to CAPA College student Joe Timpson with the Rotary Scholarship as a prestigious acknowledgement of Joe's commitment and achievement in the Arts. The scholarship will help support Joe in his training and development over the next three years enabling him to fulfil his potential and to turn his dreams of a successful career in the Arts into a reality.
Following the performance, Joe and the director of CAPA College Claire Nicholson were presented with the Scholarship bursary by Graham Wilson, Immediate Past Present of the Rotary Club of Wakefield Chantry who has been instrumental in the setting up of this Scholarship.
Claire Nicholson said "CAPA College are delighted to be working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Wakefield Chantry and are so grateful for their generosity demonstrated in the Rotary Scholarship that has been awarded to Joe Timpson, one of CAPA College's first year students. This award will really support Joe over the next three years of his training to help him achieve his dream of pursuing a career in the Arts. Joe is a dedicated, talented and hardworking student and such a positive role model for other young people and therefore a very worthy recipient of this prestigious honour from Wakefield Chantry. CAPA and the Rotary Club share a common goal of wanting to help young people be able to fulfil their true potential and we look forward to continuing our working partnership together to achieve this."
